The leaves were green, the path was gray.
Now rich with life, never here to stay.
Your world was new, the trees were tall
And all your cares, like you, were small.
There is only good,
Running through the woods.
Within your mind, shadows come alive.
Between thrill and fear imagination thrives.
As you're finally sent to bed,
The forest still runs through your head.
All stays as it should,
Running through the woods.
She takes your hand and meets your gaze.
The trees, like years, blur into a haze.
As the sun begins to fall,
The dark holds no more sway at all.
The night pulls back it's hood,
As we run through the woods.
The path was green, the leaves were gold.
The once young, always growing old.
As the new is what came before,
Give all you have 'til you have no more.
Chase the light of the setting sun,
through the woods we'll run.
Find your path before your song is sung.
Chase the light of the setting sun,
through the woods we'll run.
Find your path before your day is done.

Dark Harbors
04:08

Noises in the dark,
Brace your heart, it’s waiting for you.
Courage lights the spark,
Play your part, it’s written for you.
Keep your feet upon the ground
When the wolves are circling round,
And nipping at your heels.
You wonder how it feels,
To be on the other side.
Cast off with the tide,
Black the sky, you sail dark harbors.
Drown the fear inside,
Watch the sun rise on your starboard.
Keep your feet upon the ground
When the waves are crashing round,
And tearing at your sails.
You hold on to the rails
And you see the other side.
With your feet upon the ground
And your world is without sound
And you’re feeling all alone.
But know you’ll soon be home
And I’ll be right by your side.

Northern Grey

Thinking back on those summer days.
It’s getting colder and I’m on my way
To those New England pines
And that northern grey.
It’s been several years since I’ve been home.
Too long I’ve been on my own,
Without those nor’easter winds
Blowing through my bones.
I can feel the pull of it all
And I hear those wild valleys call.
One thing I never planned
Was just to fall and never land,
Land back home.
Ghosts of my memories linger untamed,
Like vacant lanterns returned to flame,
And the unsettling truth
Is only I have changed.
I can feel the pull of it all
And I hear those wild valleys call.
One thing I never planned
Was just to fall and never land,
Land back home.
Thinking back on those summer days.
It’s getting colder and I’m on my way.

Siren

Blue in all its shades,
I live beneath the waves.
In the deep I dwell,
At my word your ship shall
Stay with me,
your love shall set me free.
One last breath ‘bove the sea
And forever, together we’ll be.
Don’t heed what may seem wise,
See the envy fill their eyes.
Though you’re deaf to their cries,
They have seen through my disguise.
Instead, let the melody fill your head.
Don’t resist where I’ve led,
You’re mine now,
You can drown in your dread.
My song, my lure.
Though, you’re not sure,
You find yourself in love with your fear.
Less naive than at the start,
Now fear grips at your heart.
This storm in my soul
Is now tearing you
A part of me desires to set you free.
But my hunger grows
And my darling you are the key.
My song, my lure.
Though you’re not sure,
You find yourself in love with your fear.
My song, my lure.
Now I am sure,
That you’ve found yourself
In love with your fears.

White Birch

Take my hand and count our strides.
Run with me into a field of fireflies,
Lanterns in the dark.
Walk with me
And watch the days turn into night.
Step by step
We conquer mountains in our stride.
Never letting go, the roads that we know.
Driving down the coastal road.
The forest evergreen,
The mountains, topped with snow.
Redwoods scrape the sky.
Sit and watch the sun
Fold shadows under waves.
Spy a giant
Breach the sea of green and grey.
Let’s never let them fade,
These memories that we’ve made.
White birch standing in the field,
Moonlight casting silver blankets over us.
Without you, without you how will I know
It’s not just another dream?
Since both you and I have seen,
In magic, I can believe.
But their true worth lies
In that, you were by my side.
Take a train over the sea,
Leave behind the land with our reality.
Canals wind as the streets climb.
Let’s get lost inside
A maze of floating stone.
Torches light the streets
Beside the water’s road.
These memories our minds share,
It takes us both to keep them there.
The road stretches on for days.
Through the woods and hills
And valleys far away,
Beside the lakes and streams.
Walk the ridge and dream
Of dragons in their caves.
Know that your road, alone,
Is all that you must brave.
This path we begin,
We will go there and back again.
This path we begin,
We will go there and back again.

Wendigo
05:54
|
|||
I wander back to my home,
It’s almost All Hallows’ eve.
The nights are growing darker
And it’s nearly time to grieve.
‘Cus every year on that day,
Dark creatures wander free,
And I have a feeling this year,
That one’s coming for me.
We’ve all heard the stories,
Ever since we were young,
Of something lurking in the trees,
Waiting for its next victim.
No one knows quite what it is,
But I feel it in my bones.
Yeah I’ve seen it in the shadows
And I think that it knows.
It’s a Wendigo
I lock all my windows,
Close the blinds and try to sleep.
But somethings breaking down the door
And it’s time for me to leave.
I take off running towards the woods,
Under the veil of trees.
And I’m thinking that I’ve won,
Then I hear that hollow scream.
My mother told me not to believe
In monsters lurking in the dark,
But I know what I have seen.
I feel it breathing down my neck
And I whirl around to see,
A pair of hungry eyes
And I know that’s it for me.
It’s a Wendigo
It’s a Wendigo
It’s a Wendigo

We sat and watched the leaves turn red.
I can’t recall a thing we said.
Just days of laughter and nights of love,
And the sun bowing to the moon above,
And the sun bound to the moon above.
The money doesn’t make us free.
It’s not what we have but what we need,
That shows us who we really are.
And we follow love like a guiding star,
And we follow, like a guiding star
One to the East, one to the west.
Our golden summer laid to rest.
When the first frost came
And the apples fell.
And the curved path bends
Back to our farewell,
And the curved path bends
Back to our farewell.
Love’s akin to gravity,
Both govern us eternally.
Holds I to you, and us to the ground.
And by the same law, all the stars are bound,
By the same law all the stars are bound.
Though love be lost, it will soon be found.
By the same law all the stars are bound.
Around and around and around ....

Elegy

Surrounded by ghosts
When I open my eyes.
My heart fell cold without you there.
Each one had a face I recognized,
But there’s only been one for which I cared.
My mind follows our steps
Back to the shore.
The grey north sky feels harsh and cold.
The sea looks darker than before,
Yet It beckons me into its fold.
Tempted by the rolling sea,
I can hear you calling out to me.
If I leave or stay with what I know,
Either way, into the dark I go.
As evening falls and the fire dies,
Alone, I sit in memory.
This old barren house where I survive.
Your shadow, my only company.
No life is without tragedy,
But with you I have known only joy.
When fate deemed to take you away from me,
from all purpose, I was devoid.
There is just one place I’ll find you now,
Where I’ll feel the warmth of your touch.
But I’m scared to take this road alone,
Yet at its end I will be home.
Every night when I close my eyes,
Down to Hades, I descend.
Dream or nightmare will suffice,
For in this dark my sorrow ends.
Here the shadows dance a masquerade,
Where the colors of your life will only fade.
Still there’s enough of you that yet remains,
So it’s here I long to stay.

Wayfinder

|

Oh wayfinder, over the hill
Travel north towards shadows still
Further from your safe, warm bed
Where there’s no place to rest your head
Oh wayfinder, through the wood
Across the fields where last I stood
Gaze upon the nightly sky
And find your way with thy keen eye
Oh wayfinder, count the days
‘Till you return to simple ways
Though the road is hard and far
You’ll find a friend in yonder stars
Oh wayfinder, weary and worn
Be glad of the burden you have borne
Seek the raven in the old oak tree
And She may have a tale for thee
Oh wayfinder, over the hill
Take your leave of what you will
Travel there till daylight breaks
All the dark of your mistakes
Travel there till daylight breaks
All the dark of your mistakes
